More evidence that people are stupid:
The Internet auction house eBay Inc. canceled bids for half of a 10-year-old grilled cheese sandwich that its owner said bore the image of the Virgin Mary.
Diana Duyser, of Hollywood, put the sandwich up for sale last week, drawing bids as high as $22,000 before eBay pulled the item Sunday night. The page was viewed almost 100,000 times before being taken down.
Great way to spend $22,000, right? Or maybe I’m wrong. Perhaps there’s a market for partially-eaten, decades-old cheese sandwichs that I’m just not aware of.
Come on… you liberals just don’t get it. It’s a picture of Mary!!!! Until you guys realize how important this is to our country, you’ll never win an election!!!! 😉
CJ… You sound positively Catholic! And therefore a sworn enemy to the fundamentalist Christians who are now in firm control of this country.
Convert or be labeled an America-hating liberal like the rest of us!!!!!!
Exposed!!!
At least partly…
I’m a proud non-practicing Catholic… like most Catholics out there… and yes, I’m feeling very guilty about it!
Um, as a former Catholic now atheist who’s not at all ashamed of leaving the Church, the thing about the cheese sandwich is that the “picture” there bears none of the iconic indicia of it being the BVM. No Christ Child that I can see, no Immaculate Heart. Not even a freaking halo, near as I can tell. At best, it’s just a likeness of a marginally pleasant looking young woman.
And last I heard eBay has since restored the auction. See: http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/10199155.htm (registration required; see http://www.bugmenot.com/ for a way to get around that….)
Ah, yes. I, too, am a former Catholic-turned-atheist. I’ve even written a book about it, that I’m trying to get published.
It’s always good to meet another survivor of 12 years of Catholic school…..
