A study by the British Home Office has found that that country’s use of surveillance cameras has not been effective in reducing crime.
This would be good to remember the next time someone wants to hang up more public cameras in America for purposes of “security.”
Silly brian. Those things aren’t for reducing crime, just catching criminals after the fact, like police.
. . . or in the case of traffic cams, to collect extra fine money.
In fairness, some criminals are so dumb you could probably put a sign up which reads: “Warning: Video camera in use to assist police in capturing criminals” and they’d still go ahead a commit a crime in full view of the camera.
