It&#8217;s a bit odd to see the games because:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>(1) We haven&#8217;t even had the opening ceremonies yet; and<br \/>\n(2)  I hadn&#8217;t seen as much Olympic build up\/hype as I expected  (though I have only been watching MSNBC and CNBC, not NBC).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Anyway, it&#8217;s early, but I sense we&#8217;re going to see a shift in the coverage this year.  In the past couple games, the broadcast have been (all figures rough estimates):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>70% Human interest stories<br \/>\n20%  Action<br \/>\n10% Other<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This time it looks like we will see:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>60% Human interest stories<br \/>\n20%  Action<br \/>\n10%  Terror\/security\/scare updates<br \/>\n10%  Other<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It sure would be nice to simply enjoy the competition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<a href=\"http:\/\/www.brianarner.com\/weblog\/2004\/08\/olympic_coverage\/\" rel=\"bookmark\" title=\"Permalink to Olympic Coverage\"><p>I see MSNBC is already off and running with the Athens Olympics.
