That argument, however, should not include <i>we need to change the Constitution so X can run for president<\/i>.<br \/>\nFirst of all, the Constitution-amending process is so slow that it&#8217;s unlikely that any particular foreigner would still be a &#8220;hot&#8221; candidate by the time the amendment was finally ratified.<br \/>\nBut more importantly, the U.S. Constitution is far too significant to be altered through a personality-driven campaign.  The founders deliberately made the amendment process difficult so that it wouldn&#8217;t be subjected to the fluctuating whims of the masses.
