{"id":2103,"date":"2006-09-29T14:13:36","date_gmt":"2006-09-29T18:13:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.brianarner.com\/weblog\/wordpress\/2006\/09\/cuban_on_youtub\/"},"modified":"2006-09-29T14:13:36","modified_gmt":"2006-09-29T18:13:36","slug":"cuban_on_youtub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.brianarner.com\/weblog\/2006\/09\/cuban_on_youtub\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuban Smacks YouTube"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Mark Cuban: Only a 'moron' would buy YouTube\" href=\"http:\/\/news.zdnet.com\/2100-9588_22-6121034.html\">Yep<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Billionaire investor and dot-com veteran Mark Cuban had harsh words Thursday for YouTube, the online site that lets people share video clips, saying only a &#8220;moron&#8221; would purchase the wildly popular start-up.<br \/>\nCuban, co-founder of HDNet and owner of the NBA&#8217;s Dallas Mavericks, also said YouTube would eventually be &#8220;sued into oblivion&#8221; because of copyright violations.<br \/>\n&#8220;They are just breaking the law,&#8221; Cuban told a group of advertisers in New York. &#8220;The only reason it hasn&#8217;t been sued yet is because there is nobody with big money to sue.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m not an expert on the economics of corporate acquisitions, but he&#8217;s correct on the copyright issue.  I&#8217;m surprised YouTube already hasn&#8217;t been taken to court for this.<br \/>\nI recently set up a YouTube playlist, and my assumption is that every video I&#8217;ve included is technically a copyright violation.
