Over at Bike Forums<\/a> there’s a haiku thread<\/a>. I (under the member name “Velo Vol<\/a>“) have added a few. Some of them are below the break:<\/p>\n


\nThe cold wind subsides
\nMadone is atop the car
\nI’m going riding
\nI’m back from my ride
\nTough trek out against headwinds
\nReturn trip was fast
\nRode my bike today
\nBattled gusty cold wind chill
\nWinter weather sucks
\nSaturday night here
\nComposing haiku on Foo
\nMy life really rocks
\nLocal TV news
\nFilled with lots of fluff pieces
\nToo much time to kill
\nFebruary days
\nFilled with cold winds and sadness
\nSpring will come again
\nToday was warmer
\nIt felt good to go riding
\nWithout a cold face.
\nRigorous bike rides
\nAre therapy for the soul
\nStill, emptiness sucks.
\nMy ears are ringing
\nfrom the sound of loud banging.
\nUse ear protection.
\nNo anonymity
\nfor folks on the Internets.
\nBig snoops all around.
\nWent for a bike ride.
\nA bridge on route was torn down.
\nLost eight miles of fun.
\nQuack quack, goes the duck.
\nEager for a scrap of food.
\nSoggy bread tastes good.
\nIs there life on Mars?
\nIf so, it can likely use
\nA nice warm shower.
\nSpring time brings strong winds.
\nMy legs strain to maintain speed
\nagainst the fierce gusts.
\nSymbols are nice, but
\nthe love they represent does
\nnot wither away.
\nEnd of a long climb
\nAt the crest lies a trophy
\nFun times are ahead.
\nIf the haiku thread
\nfalls down in the Foo forest
\ndoes it make a sound?
\nI follow the math
\nFive seven five syllables
\nBut write poor haiku.
\nA century goal?
\nIt’s really not that bad. Just
\nten, ten-mile rides.
\nA newspaper has
\nan extremely short shelf life.
\nNews obsoletes fast.
\n“This Afternoon”
\nHad my joints checked at
\nthe rheumatologist. Bike
\ntherapy followed.
\n“Gut Check”
\nWeighed in at doctor’s
\nAm five pounds over target
\nMust ride more, eat less.
\nThe hockey face-off:
\nbattle of expectations
\nand quick reflexes.
\nBattling a cold.
\nOD’ed on vitamin C.
\nHealth just out of reach.
\nThe warm sun feels good
\nbut it falls short as a balm
\nfor a barky cough.
\nI want to sauna
\nabove two hundred degrees
\nfor several hours.
\nUp, down, up again
\nThe course of our emotions
\nOften a riddle.
\nMelodic flashback:
\nA few bars of old music
\nand I’m young again.
\n“The Convalescence Ride”
\nBreath short and shallow,
\nSlower pace, a mild burning,
\nStill, good to be out.
\nAn old bike saddle
\nis more comfortable than
\na plush office chair.
\nLonger evenings,
\nwarmer days for riding make
\nVelo Vol happy.
\nSwish swish swish swish swish
\nOne hundred twenty-one points<\/a>
\nMy Vols were on fire!
\nWinter lingers on
\nTo a weekend marked for Spring
\nMy bike doth protest.
\nVols down Cavaliers,
\nmove on to the Sweet Sixteen.
\nI love March Madness.
\nLaid down for short nap
\nSlept for three hours instead
\nGuess I was tired.
\n“Being Cheated”
\nRide out with headwind
\non an out-and-back, return
