{"id":795,"date":"2004-03-23T09:07:57","date_gmt":"2004-03-23T14:07:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.brianarner.com\/weblog\/wordpress\/2004\/03\/not_lifethreatening\/"},"modified":"2004-03-23T09:07:57","modified_gmt":"2004-03-23T14:07:57","slug":"not_lifethreatening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.brianarner.com\/weblog\/2004\/03\/not_lifethreatening\/","title":{"rendered":"Not Life-Threatening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Take a look at what <a href=\"http:\/\/www.local6.com\/news\/2938269\/detail.html\">Conrad Malsom had to go through<\/a> when he attempted to report spotting Ohio highway shootings suspect Charles McCoy Jr. to Las Vegas emergency responders:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Malsom found McCoy&#8217;s car Tuesday night in a motel parking lot near the Las Vegas Strip and made more than a dozen calls to 911 in which he was transferred or told to call the department&#8217;s non-emergency phone number.<br \/>\n&#8220;Most citizens would have gotten fed up and hung up in disgust,&#8221; [Sheriff Bill] Young told the <i>Las Vegas Review-Journal<\/i>. &#8220;When citizens want to help us, I don&#8217;t want anything in our system to frustrate or deter them.&#8221;<br \/>\nOn recordings of the calls, a determined Malsom can be heard pleading with operators to send officers to apprehend McCoy.<br \/>\n&#8220;This is most important. I&#8217;ve been turned down by 911 because this is not life-threatening. I&#8217;m parked next to the Ohio beltway murderer.
